MTW Child Protection Guidelines

  1. It is the policy of MTW to provide efficient, enjoyable and safe instruction to all pupils who attend workshops.
  2. The rented premises and equipment MTW use will be checked regularly for any defects or faults that exist or may have developed which might present hazards to any pupil attending the workshop.
  3. All instruction will be geared to the previous experience and abilities of the pupil(s) and no pupil will be required to perform movements beyond their intrinsic capabilities. No energetic instruction will be given without pupils undergoing a “warm-up” session, and after an energetic session completing a “cool-down” session.
  4. All instruction will only be carried out in ‘No Smoking’ areas.
  5. An accident book will be kept to report any injury of any nature to staff or pupils. The premises owners keep records of when fire extinguishers, fire alarms etc have been serviced and the records of regular testing of emergency lighting.
  6. All pupils / parents are required to complete an online registration / booking form which includes address and telephone numbers and details of any issues of which teachers should be aware.
  7. No primary school aged pupils will be allowed to leave the  workshop venue until collected by a parent, guardian or other adult authorised to do so by a parent or guardian. For year 6 parent permission can be been given in writing for them to leave unsupervised. A workshop tutor will remain on the premises until all the pupils have left.
  8. No pupil under age 18 will be driven home by a workshop tutor in his/her car unless there is a medical emergency and the parent has been informed.
  9. If appropriate, changing facilities will be provided.
  10. No child will be photographed or videoed without the consent of parent or guardian and a record of such authorisation will be kept via the booking form.
  11. All workshop tutors hold an up to date DBS disclosure and a first aid trained member of the team is available.
  12. Teachers will avoid any unnecessary physical contact with pupils.
  13. MTW tutors are covered by a Public and Employee Liability Insurance.
  14. Teachers will be sensitive to all pupils’ religious beliefs and culture. No form of any discrimination or bullying of any sort will be tolerated in the organisation.
  15. At all times, all staff will keep the highest standards of instruction and behaviour.
